In-Home ABA Therapy
What is ABA Therapy?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific approach to understanding behavior. ABA refers to a set of principles that focus on how behaviors change, or are affected by the environment, as well as how learning takes place. The overall goal of ABA is to figure out why a child behaves the way they do and then focus on ways to encourage those desired behaviors and address challenging behaviors. ABA focuses on positive reinforcement in order to decrease unwanted behaviors.
What does ABA focus on?
ABA therapy helps improve socially significant behaviors including communication, social skills, academic performance, language. self-management, daily living skills, leisure skills, restricted/repetitive and stereotypic behaviors, as well as maladaptive behaviors by teaching appropriate age level skills.
Treatment Models
Comprehensive Interventions
Comprehensive interventions are recommended for early learners to close the gaps between the child level of functioning and their typically developing peers. Comprehensive Interventions focus on all areas of development (daily living skills, communication, social skills, play leisure skills, motor skills) and behavior intervention plans to reduce challenging behaviors and increase appropriate alternative behavior. Treatments are provided in your home from 30 to 40 hours per week Monday through Friday.
Focused Interventions
Focused treatments are recommended for children who are enrolled in a full time school program and have IEP’s to support their educational needs. Focused Interventions concentrate on specific and targeted goals. Goals can include increasing social skills, self-care skills, tolerating transitions, leisure skills, communication or reducing inappropriate behaviors. Treatments are provided in your home from 10 to 25 hours per week Monday through Friday.
