PEERS®​ for Young Adults


Program Details

PEERS® for Young Adults is an evidence-based social skills intervention for those interested in taking charge of their lives.   Focus is on improving conversation skills, making and keeping friends, and interest in navigating dating.  These social skills are taught through didactic lessons, role-play demonstrations, and practicing the skills. ​

​There are four different modules in our PEERS curriculum to choose from. Each module is four weeks long and includes one 90-minute session scheduled weekly.   

Conversations

  • Starting, maintaining, and exiting conversations
  • Maintaining reciprocal conversations

Friendships

  • How to find friends
  • Electronic communication
  • Planning & organizing get-togethers on-line or in person

Difficult Situations

  • Handling difficult situations
  • Handling disagreements
  • Managing bullies
  • Appropriate use of humor

Dating

  • Do's & Don'ts of letting someone know you like them
  • Planning, asking and going on dates

Requirements

Enrollment Process

  • Age: between 18-35 years old​
  • Participate voluntarily and be interested in attending the course
  • Attend the program consistently
  • Have internet access with Microsoft Teams capabilities
  1. Complete the confidential online application below.
  2. Upon receiving your application, a Melmed Center BCBA will contact you to schedule a 30 minute video intake with both the teen and parent/guardian to determine eligibility for PEERS® Group.
  3. After the intake, someone will contact you to finalize enrollment and collect payment. 
We are always accepting PEERS® program applications!
