An activity oriented social skills group that combines art, drama, and games to help girls learn to make and keep friends, communicate, problem solve, monitor moods, and improve decision making and social sportsmanship skills.

 

Teen Talkclick for more information

This group provides teens with a safe environment to explore sensitive topics relevant to their everyday lives. Teens develop interpersonal skills that help in their social and family relationships. They'll also learn strategies for making and keeping friends, coping with teasing and peer pressure, and improving relationships. Teens develop problem solving and self-monitoring skills such as identifying, expressing, and managing feelings.

Clue Breakersclick for more information

Many young people, including those with Asperger Syndrome, have a hard time reading social cues. The purpose of this group is to uncover the clues of successful social interactions, such as reading facial expressions and body language. The goal is to develop effective communication skills and learn to take the perspective of another. Each session will include the introduction, modeling and practice of a social skill, as well as group counseling related to friendship issues.

Attention Deficit Disorder is a challenge for those who have it. The focus of this program will be to develop successful strategies for gaining control of attention/behavior. Self-monitoring and relaxation techniques will be addressed, as well as strategies for making and maintaining friendships!

Stress Busters click for more information

Children are often faced with multiple life stressors. Also many children become "stuck" on certain worries-often about things they need not worry about! Parents may find themselves spending huge amounts of time reassuring, coaxing and accommodating to minimize their child's distress-often with minimal success!In a group setting, 'children will benefit from learning and practicing skills to reduce stress and anxiety, improve overall performance and enhance self-exteem and confidence.
