Focus

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder presents myriad  challenges for children and adolescents. This program is designed to address the specific social, emotional, and behavioral issues typical of kids and adolescents with AD/HD at different stages of their development. The FOCUS of the program is to develop successful strategies for gaining control of attention and behavior.  Also included are topics such as self-monitoring, relaxation techniques, anxiety reduction, attention enhancement, self-esteem, and social skills with an emphasis on making and keeping friends. Curriculum regarding social/interpersonal skills may vary according to age and developmental level.

Schedule : Fall  2008 

Register for our  new Parent Focus Class (information below) 

• Group 1: 1st, 2nd & 3rd grade boys and girls (limit 6)
  Tuesdays from 5:30-6:30 PM
  Beginning September 9th thru November 4th
• Group 2: 4th, 5th & 6th grade boys and girls (limit 6)
  Monday through Tuesday from 6:45- 7:45 PM
  Beginning September 9th thru November 4th

• There will be two 20 minute individual parent feedback sessions on October 7th and November 11th

EARLY REGISTRATION discounted fee is $500.00 for 8 meetings and two parent conferences. (includes supplies and final report).

Register at least 2 weeks prior to first group meeting for this rate, the rate will increase to $550.00 if you register after the EARLY REGISTRATION deadline. A $100.00* deposit is required to reserve your child’s space.

The deposit is non-refundable if you withdraw from group after the EARLY REGISTRATION deadline. Please note there will not be a credit for any missed meetings or early withdraw after sessions have begun.

FOCUS is designed to address the specific social, emotional, and behavioral issues typical of kids and adolescents with ADHD at different stages of their development. The FOCUS of this program is provide information to parents to help there children develop successful strategies for gaining control of attention and behavior. This program is for parents who have had there children participate in the program already or for parents seeking information and support in learning about social skills for their children diagnosed with ADHD.

• Parent Group: Tuesdays from 6:00-7:00 pm November 14 thru December 16
• Two parents per child may participate. (6 spots available for parents/caregivers)

• EARLY REGISTRATION discounted fee is $250.00 for 5 meetings. This fee includes registration for up to two parents per child. Register at least 2 weeks prior to first group meeting for this rate, the rate will increase to $275.00 if you register after the EARLY REGISTRATION deadline. A $100.00* deposit is required to reserve your space. The deposit is non-refundable if you withdraw from group after the EARLY REGISTRATION deadline. • There will not be child care available, this program is for adults only. Please make accommodations for your children outside of the facility.

Dr. Lisa Elder, received her Bachelors degree in psychology from Arizona State University. She completed her Masters degree and Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology at Argosy University/Phoenix. Dr. Elder provides individual and family therapy for children, adolescents, and families. Specialties include working with children with developmental disabilities, internalizing and externalizing disorders, trauma issues and relationship conflict; adolescents; and play therapy and social skills group. Dr. Elder also offers psychological and psychoeducational testing services. She works as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology at Argosy University/Phoenix where she teaches classes in development, child psychopathology, and specialty interventions.
